Sean Martin - MLS NEXT Academy Division Coordinator

Coppermine Soccer Club, powered by Orlegi Sports, is proud to announce Sean Martin as our new MLS NEXT Academy Division Coordinator for the 2026/2027 season.

Sean brings over 15 years of coaching experience across both the collegiate and youth levels and has quickly made a strong impact during his first year at Coppermine. He currently serves as Head Coach of our 2012 and 2009 NAL Boys teams, assists the 2013 Boys Blue, and is also on staff with Maryland Olympic Development Program. Next season, Sean will also step into head coaching roles with our U15 and U16 MLS NEXT Academy Division teams.

Prior to joining Coppermine, Sean spent nine years with Loudoun Soccer Club, where he served as Assistant Director of Coaching for all Boys 11v11 teams while coaching ECNL RL sides. During his time there, he was named Travel Coach of the Year and helped lead teams to significant competitive success, including a State Cup championship.

Sean holds a USSF C License, United Soccer Coaches National Diploma & a US Youth Soccer National License. He also brings valuable collegiate experience, having served in coaching and operational roles at James Madison University, Bridgewater College, and Virginia Tech. A former Division I player at James Madison, Sean’s understanding of both the developmental and operational sides of the game makes him an outstanding fit for this role.

As MLS NEXT AD Coordinator, Sean will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our MLS NEXT Academy platform. He will assist with scheduling and league communication, oversee weekend game day operations, help coordinate player and coach logistics, and work closely with club leadership to ensure our MLS NEXT environment continues to operate at the highest professional standard. Sean will work directly alongside Michael Alvarado, MLS NEXT Director, helping ensure alignment across all academy operations while continuing to support our players, coaches, and families throughout the year.

This role is an important step forward as we continue building one of the premier MLS NEXT environments in the country. Sean’s leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence make him an outstanding fit for this position, and we are excited for the impact he will have on the continued growth of our MLS NEXT platform.
